Years 5 & 6 (ages 9 - 11)

Years 5 & 6 class is a is the culmination of the primary years, and prepares pupils for the transition into the senior classes. Pupils are encouraged to develop independence, building on their existing skills to deepen their knowledge and understanding.  They develop the necessary research and study skills required at senior level.

Daily studies in language, number, science, humanities and creativity are embedded with Islamic teachings and morals and all teaching resources are carefully checked to make sure they do not conflict with Islamic principles.  Children are regularly assessed according to the national expectations and outcomes for children of their age, to ensure they are achieving the necessary skills to progress further.

Religious Education is delivered from an Islamic perspective and follows a renowned scheme of work designed especially for children of Junior age. Topics include:

  • Biography of the Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him)
  • Explanation of the Quran
  • Islamic Beliefs
  • Islamic Etiquettes
  • Islamic History
  • Islamic Jurisprudence
  • Islamic Stories
  • Oral Traditions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
  • Stories of the Prophets
Children are also taught reading and memorisation of the Qur'an, and to understand the meaning.

Information Technology is integrated across the curriculum.
